Thanksgiving

We may be Europeans, but we still had a fabulous Thanksgiving!

Sarah and David cooked up a storm - it was fantastic. I don't know many corporate lawyers who come home late and cook for their husband and friends, who are as creative and kind and imaginative and giving as Sarah. I love this couple!

They decorated their flat with pumpkins and squash and prepared a feast of roast parnsips, sweet potatoes, roast potatoes, turkey, ham, vegetables, stuffing, sausages, cranberry sauce, white sauce, homemade gravy, 3 cakes... and they aren't even American! I am so grateful to have friends who love America as much as I do!

My contribution was a rather paltry layer cake. I tried my best, honestly, it was just much flatter than I had hoped it would be. It didn't really have the impressive stacked effect that I was going for. But it was pink, and it did have chocolate in it, so there were a few endearing features I suppose.

Well, happy Turkey Day - guess I'll be ok with sharing it with you (joking joking). I don't see how people wouldn't want in on this holiday - come on, we get a four day weekend and you get to stuff yourself sick with GREAT food. That is so quintessentially American, and it should be spread internationally. Four day weekend, eat like it's going out of style. Excellent.

Oddly enough, there are those here in the U.S. who don't celebrate Thanksgiving (what?! horror!!), and I'm unfortunate enough to work for them. Generally, Chabad skips all of the holidays... I put my foot down about working the evening event, but I was there, Thursday morning, diligently working my fanny off...

Glad you enjoyed, though :) My boyfriend threw a fit and insisted on pecan pie, which nobody likes but him, so we sat around watching the Barbara Walters/Barack Obama interview while he stuffed his face with pie and the rest of us just sat there... dessert-less. I should have joined you. Your cake looks dreamy-delicious.
